Two different lenses on the same career decision.

Most advisor recruiters bring one perspective. The advisor’s, or the platform’s. Scott and I bring both.

I spent 16 years inside a captive system, then built TerraWealth from scratch. I know what it feels like to outgrow the firm you work for, and I know what it costs to build the alternative yourself.

Scott spent 17 years on the other side — wholesale distribution, watching how firms evaluate advisors and how advisors evaluate firms. He’s seen which platforms keep their promises, and which ones quietly narrow what they let you do once you’re in.

Together, we cover both sides of the conversation you’re actually having with yourself. The lived experience of running a practice, and the mechanics of how platforms really work behind the curtain.

The other half of the conversation.

P. Scott Leonard is the Founding Partner and CEO of TerraWealth, and my business partner since 2022. Before TerraWealth, Scott spent 17 years on the wholesale distribution side of financial services — including 14 years at Lincoln Financial Distributors, where he built a regional book from zero to $120 million in annual sales. He spent seven of those years in sales management for a Fortune 500 company. He holds the RFG® and CFS® designations and trained with the Money, Means, and Choices Institute for working with sudden wealth and high-net-worth families. He earned his degree in Business Administration with an Economics minor from East Carolina University.

My passion is to help advisors better understand the value of how you affiliate with a firm — and how to monetize their career body of work.

No. 02.4 A note on TerraWealth

Scott and I built TerraWealth in 2022 because we believed advisors deserved better infrastructure than the captive system was offering. We were right about the why — and we underestimated what it would take to do it alone. Joining Apollon was how we got that infrastructure without giving up the conviction that built TerraWealth in the first place.

TerraWealth still exists. It’s now where we work with advisors building toward Apollon’s $250 million threshold — practices in the $25 million to $250 million range who want the same conviction, the same culture, and the same trajectory, with a platform sized to where they are today.
